Beefcake Is Stripped of PPW Continental Championship!
In the Summer of 2017 PPW decided to create and implement the Continental Championship. The thought process behind the decision was to create a championship that would serve as a bridge to other independent pro wrestling companies across the nation. After joining the Allied Independent Wrestler Federations (AIWF) in 2017, PPW set task to a mission to create working relationships with companies both far and wide. The AIWF is the world’s largest sanctioning body of independent professional wrestling featuring over 90 companies from across the world. Each company within the organization recognizes fighting champions from regional, national, and international levels. The inaugural Continental Championship match took place this past Summer at an Independent super show featuring the collaboration of several of the nations top companies. The match was held at The Annex in Winston – Salem, NC, home of the Carolina Thunderbirds pro hockey team. In that match, PPW’s The Beefcake defeated Haiti native Jude Jean.
The Beefcake has over a decade of in ring experience here in Pure Pro Wrestling. Despite his critics, he is an accomplished wrestler with multiple championship reigns in several companies. Typically, fans loath him, however the feeling seems to be mutual as The Beefcake can’t understand why fans won’t give him credit for “having the best physique in all of pro wrestling.” On paper, The Beefcake has the appearance of being a good champion. He won the title on a huge event by defeating an international wrestler. He’s held the title for six months, however his championship reign has been far from impressive.
Since the Summer of 2017 The Beefcake has only had a handful of title defenses. The last title defense he had was forced on him by PPW management after Salem Ash won a contender’s bout. During the title fight, The Beefcake enlisted the help of Pinky Shortcake and Slim Trimmons while getting himself intentionally disqualified which allowed him to keep the title although he technically lost the match. Since November The Beefcake has had two scheduled title defenses – both of which were canceled due to no shows by Beefcake on both accounts. The last excuse he gave to PPW staff and fans was that “he had car trouble.”
After careful deliberation, PPW management has decided to strip The Beefcake of the Continental Championship citing a “lack of title defenses and two consecutive no shows in a months time” as the reasoning behind the decision. PPW will not wait to crown a new champion. Details will be announced later today!
